Ruffle cake for Mothers Day

This week I’m working on a number of Mothers Day cakes for an event that I’m doing soon.  This is a ruffle cake topped with a dusky pink rose.  It’s the first ruffle cake I’ve made, but I love the romantic look.  It’s a rich chocolate sponge with light vanilla buttercream ruffles and smells lovely too.

Bored chihuahua looking for trouble!

This is our very cute, but naughty chihuahua, Percy.  I followed him around with my camera, at first he was suspicious, but he soon carried on creating chaos as normal.  Here he is by the bin (he still can’t reach it despite balancing perfectly on two legs, which he can do for ages),

he loves to steal and hide washing too! and at last a little lie down in a pair of boots.

Icing lantern

Just thought I’d share this. I was thinking of new ideas with icing and this came to me in the night! This might make a good topping to a cake, instead of a normal candle.  Especially good for a evening celebration.  This is a quick and rough prototype I knocked up this morning, but it would look equally lovely in plain simple white or maybe encrusted in edible jewels.  I will share this with you when I have an order where I can use this at some stage.
