Halloween cake

I made this Halloween cooking pot cake using red velvet sponge and gooey strawberry jam filling. I couldn’t find eyeballs, so I drew eyes on to white chocolate buttons, added strawberry laces for arteries and added lime jelly for a slimey topping. The jelly melted the black icing (which was a mistake) which created thick pools of black slime which ran down the sides and onto the cake board taking some lumps of lime jelly with it. It was a totally revolting effect, much to my childrens delight. Also, I’m pleased to say that cake and jelly is delicious.  Now to set the scene!

Ferrari cake

I was recently asked to make a Ferrari cake at short notice but I wasn’t able to find a Ferrari shaped cake tin.  So I decided to bake a three layered, rectangle, madeira cake and carve it from that.  Below are photos of how I did it.  If I had had more time, I would do somethings slightly better, but for my first attempt,  I’m please with it and more importantly, so was my customer!.
