If the dog eats this one, I will drive him like an F1 driver straight to the nearest dogs home! It’s gluten free (not that the dog will mind either way) and it weighs a ton, so husband will be helping me deliver it, at least there’s no steps (or chicanes – haha) at the customers address.
Classic, beautiful and delicious… this is a wedding cake that I delivered for a wedding on Saturday – I was really please with this and more importantly, so was the bride & groom! The dove grey colour would work equally well with bright coloured flowers as well as with the white and dusky pink flowers seen here.
Jodie and I of Vintage Allsorts & Cake created our first pop-up vintage tea room together on Saturday. The venue was a modest (needed a bit of sprucing up), but pretty village church hall (with parking). We had fun listening to old fashioned music while we transformed the room with our bunting, pictures, fresh flowers and beautiful lace tablecloths and the room was spritzed with delicate air freshner. We then displayed our scrumptious homemade cakes and biscuits on beautiful cake stands and vintage plates and switched on the coffee machine – just in time for our first customers. We had every table full within the first 45 minutes and it continued steadily until we shut at 4. Our milkshakes with cream and sprinkles on top and gingerbread men were popular by our youngest diners and our full afternoon tea service was in demand too. All in all, we met some lovely and interesting people and enjoyed welcoming them to our quintessentially british pop-up tea room. Can’t wait to do it all again on Sat 15th June. x
Some of the cakes on our cake table
Nearly ready to open the doors. There was no time to take photos once the customers arrived!
Gingerbread men, ginger biscuits (to sit on the side of the cup) and vanilla decorated biscuits. Boxed up the night before.
Thought I’d post this….. people say I’m good at all this stuff. Well here is a disaster – it’s a gingerbread heart biscuit with a piped outline and runout icing in the centre. Could have thrown the first one in the bin and given up, but perfect by the 3rd attempt. Sometimes you have just got to walk away, make a cup of tea and try again!
